Dometic TropiCool TCX21 Thermoelectric Cooler/Warmer, 21 Litres, 1 Year Warranty. The TCX range of thermoelectric coolers is the result of Dometic not resting on its laurels and always looking for new and exciting product innovation.

Providing all of the previous benefits of the popular Dometic CoolPro TC series, the new TCX line is portable, convenient, and reliable. A high performance fan for dynamic interior ventilation can create temperatures up to 27°C below ambient temperature, as low as 1°C, or warm up to 65°C so that you can bring and maintain whatever food or drink your heart desires. An intelligent power-saving circuit creates efficiency and minimizes excessive power use, while seven-level temperature regulation gives you full control.

Besides a fresh new design, the TCX range has been equipped with additional protection and safety measures. TCX includes active battery protection that will prevent deep discharge of your vehicle’s battery and a reverse polarity feature ensures foolproof DC electrical connections.

How do I prevent my thermoelectric cooler from overheating?

Make sure that the cooler is in a well-ventilated area (there needs to be a minimum of 50mm ventilation on all four sides of the unit). Also ensure that there are no objects near the unit (especially the ventilation units) that could restrict the airflow to the cooling components. Do not leave the unit in a closed compartment or area with little to no airflow.
** Dometic Troubleshooting Tip ** - My portable fridge is not performing properly and/or running too long

Are all ventilation slots unobstructed? Good refrigeration must have good airflow - especially in hot ambient temperatures.
Will this model fridge cool down to 1 degree temp or lower?

Hi there, this is a thermoelectric cooler/warmer that will cool down 25 °C or heat to 65 °C above the outside temperature.

If you want a portable fridge whereby you can set exact temperature settings (say 1°C or below) then you would need to consider a Portable Compressor Driven Fridge Freezer.

What are the pro's and con's of Thermoelectric Coolers?

Pro's for Thermoelectric Coolers:
- Low price
- Light weight
- Small size
- Don't need to be completely level
- Easy to operate
- Long life - reptitive use
- Design to maintain temperature not make temperature
Con's for Thermoelectric Coolers:
- Can’t reach the same cool temperatures as fridges
- Heavily dependent on ambient temperature
- Consistent draw on power (doesn't cycle on or off)
Thermoelectric coolers and warmers are a great, low cost and simple option if you’re looking for a way to keep your drinks cool and your lunch warm on a road trip. But any longer than a couple of days, and you’re probably better off investing in a portable fridge.
I have purchsed a tcx21, how long will it run on a car battery when the car is turned off?

HI There,

The run time would depend on how much power the car battery can provide.

It is not recommended to draw down the vehicle battery as this can affect the lifespan of the battery, and prevent the vehicle from starting.

This unit will use approximately 3.83A an hour at 12V.
** Dometic Troubleshooting Tip ** - Have you cut or extended the cable supplied?

Unless you do this correctly you will prevent your fridge from getting enough voltage to operate correctly. The cable provided is the minimum thickness required for that length.
