Battery Management System

The battery is also equipped with an internal LiFePO4 Battery Management System (BMS) that can monitor and optimize each Prismatic cell within the battery during normal operation. It will protect the battery pack from over charge, over discharge, over temperature & short circuit. The BMS helps to ensure safe and accurate operation of the battery.

Enerdrive ePOWER 60A Battery Charger:

The Enerdrive ePOWER 60A Battery Charger is a fully automatic, “set and forget” charger. It is designed to quickly and accurately recharge your batteries using algorithms that help maximise service life. Multistage smart charging technology enables the charger to be connected to your battery banks permanently.

As dictated by battery manufacturer’s recommendations, batteries require a multistage charge sequence for perfect, fast and accurate charging.

The Enerdrive ePOWER charger can be programmed for Lithium batteries. This setting delivers the full rated output of the charger constantly with the charger switching to power supply mode once the voltage peak is met (indicating a full battery bank).

60A Battery Charger Features:

  • Multistage Charging: Fully automatic multistage battery charger with the ability to charge 3 separate battery banks.
  • Separate Battery Banks: Isolated charging design where battery bank one is separate from battery bank two and three.

  • Q:I want to use a generator to run an Enerdrive Battery Charger like this - what is the recommended size generator?

    Hi Tom – the most popular size generator to run a battery charger like the Enerdrive ePower series is a 1000 Watt generator, such as the Yamaha EF1000iS. It is lightweight, fuel efficient and very quiet. 

    Note that the Enerdrive ePower 60Amp Charger model will draw a max 1050 Watts of power, in which case you might want to look at a 2000 Watt generator if you want to get the full power of of your 60Amp charger. Alternatively, the ePower charger series have a Current Control feature, which allows the user to adjust the current output - so for example you can dial back at 60Amp charger to still run off a 1000 Watt generator :)

    Yes this is the latest model from Enerdrive.

    It does have the capabilities of charging up to 50A!

  • Q:Hi, just wondering if you are able to select which the charger will draw from first? Eg. Solar over alternator. If so will it still use the alternator if more is needed?

    Hi Isaac,

    There are provisions to manually override the charging source from alternator to solar.

    However Enerdrive state: If Manual Override Mode is used and left on there is a risk of flattening the start battery. The preferred method is to use the automatic override method by connecting the ignition source to the ignition terminal of the DC2DC+ charger.

  • Q:Can I use the dc2dc charger with a 600 watt wind turbine. I have a battery bank of 4 120 AH 12 volt batteries.

    Hi There,

    This charger is not suitable for use with wind turbines sorry.

  • Q:What size battery charger do I need for my lead acid battery I have in my camper?

    A good battery charger rule of thumb for charging a lead acid battery, is using a charger with output current (amps) of 10-20% of the battery total stored capacity (Ah).

    So, for example if the battery is 12V 100Ah, the charger need to be minimum of 10A and maximum of 20A.  Often splitting the difference at 15% (so a 12V ~15A charger) is a good option. Happy charging!

  • Q:Can I connect the Enerdrive B-tec Lithium Batteries in Parallel in series?

    Hi there,

    You cannot connect any of the EnerdriveB-TEC batteries in series. You can however connect up to two only of the same size (ah) B-TEC batteries in Parallel. Enerdrive recommend that you only do this if you don't over load the max current of the internal BMS board from ONE OF THE BATTERIES.

    Example. If you connect 2 x 200Ah B-TEC batteries then do not draw more than 200A of DC current from that battery bank, as one (1) single 200Ah B-TEC battery is only capable of handling 200A DC.

    The main aim of connecting two (2) of the Enerdrive B-TEC batteries is not to increase your maximum DC current output, but to double your storage capacity.

    Double the storage equals double the time you can stay powered up and off the grid.

    Be sure to always consult the Enerdrive user manuals for correct cable sizing, fuse sizing and wiring diagrams.

  • Q:Do lithium batteries need to be ventilated? Any other install tips for my Enerdrive lithium battery?
    The batteries do not vent, so no need to be concerned about installing your Enerdrive Battery in a highly ventilated space.  
    It is recommended to keep them in a cool dry area to increase longevity. 
    Do not mount the battery on its side - it needs to be keep upright. Thanks.
