Product Description

Nilfisk MC 4M 160/620 Electric Pressure Washer, 2320PSI, 1 Year Warranty. The Nilfisk MC 4M is one of the latest releases in the professional Nilfisk pressure washer range. This new model features increased power, a new design and a unique and fast foam sprayer system with a separate bottle for efficient cleaning.

A portable single phase cold water pressure cleaner, designed for light to moderate commercial use that delivers superior cleaning results, saved time and lower costs. The powerful performance of the MC4M is ensured by a high-quality 1450 rpm motor-pump with a brass pump head. A great pressure washer all-rounder for your business.

The MC4M also features an pressure activated unloader system and on board pump oil tank and fill/empty system to make basic maintenance tasks such as oil checking simple for the user. In addition, the easy to access concept reduces maintenance time and costs.

Foam makes the difference Detergent is supplied more effectively through a new separate foam sprayer system. Cleaning dirt, mud, dust, mineral dirt and light pollution can, in most cases be carried out with cold water. When it comes to more challenging grease and fats, detergent must be added. Until now detergents have been supplied by a built-in injector but now Nilfisk has developed a unique foam sprayer system with a separate bottle and foam sprayer, reducing energy loss and guaranteeing an increase in nozzle pressure and cleaning power.

Robust and safe to handle – more intuitive and easy use The design of the MC 4M has been made more robust, including larger 250 mm wheels to give good ground clearance over rough surfaces and a new spray gun holder. The new holder protects the spray gun from falling on the ground and being dragged behind the machine - essential to safe storage and transportation. Optional extension hose availble in accessories list.

Product Q&A

Ask Us a Question
  • I am considering pressure washer models of around 2400psi (or larger) for cleaning large concrete areas as my main task. But will this be too powerful to clean vehicles? I don't want to do any vehicle damage.
Hi there - This question has come up since the introduction of pressure cleaners. The answer is simple; Yes you can do damage if you hold it too close on a particular point for a long period. In practice no one would actually do that. Simply holding the lance further away from the vehicle is the answer. If there is paint damage and the spray can get under it, it will peel off like a Band-Aid.

Note that trucking/freight companies for example use much larger pressure washers for their trucks/car fleets, so 2400psi is not too much for your car/other vehicles. In summary, for large concrete areas, a washer above 2000psi is a good idea to speed up the job, and it will also still be suitable for cleaning your vehicles, just use it correctly. Thanks.
  • Do the Gerni Pressure washers have ‘thermal cutout’? I’ve been told to look for this in a pressure washer I need for our business.

Yes, the Gerni models have Thermal Cutout. This feature relates to electric pressure washers: the motor cuts out when heating is excessive to protect the unit.

The petrol models have what they call 'thermal dump' - which involves a valve that releases water when pressure is built up, but the trigger of the gun is not pulled to release, also designed to protect your unit.

  • What are the differences in the type of pumps used in Commercial Grade pressure washers as opposed to Domestic pressure washers?

Howdy, good question! Quality commercial grade pressure washers from brands such as Gerni, Crommelins, Subaru, AR Blue Clean will use brass pump heads which are stronger, can handle more intensive use and have a longer lifetime.

Quality commercial grade pressure washers will also use solid ceramic pistons to avoid corrosion and thus also extending the unit's lifetime.

Domestic pressure washers will typically use an aluminum pump head and solid steel pistons. These are lighter in weight and suit household cleaning requirements. When looking at domestic washers, again its best to opt for a quality brand (as listed above) as they will use non-corrosive aluminum which will prolong the life of the unit, as compared to cheaper brands which are often prone to corrosion.

    Thanks!

  • If something happens to the pressure washer unit, how do I get it repaired?

The benefit of buying a Gerni Pressure Washer is that your unit is backed by the national Gerni Service Agent support network – if you ever need the unit repaired, need spare parts, or inspected under warranty, you are covered. You are also buying a product that is part of the global cleaning company Nilfisk, which has been a market leading manufacturer of cleaning products for over 100 years across 70 different countries.

Buying a Gerni means you are buying quality and a top performing cleaning unit that will last you for years to come – it also means that your product has spare parts and servicing support country wide.

  • Hi Paul, Do any of the Gerni range have the ability to use water from a non mains supply like a water tank?

Yes, All the Gerni range can be connected to a Non Mains supply like a rainwater tank. The best way is to run it gravity fed from a tap at the bottom of the tank using a normal hose with the machine lower than the tank.

The Super, PE and Three phase models can all be positioned above the source of the water from 0m - 2.5m under optimum conditions. In order to operate the machine correctly in “Suction Mode” we recommend that you check the operating instructions in the product manual attached for each Pressure Washer.

Generally the Backflow preventer is not needed, the Gerni suction hose kit accessory is required and the air needs to be bled from the line.

You can purchase the Suction Hose Kit in the accessories list for the all models.

    Regards,

    Paul

  • Can I use power extension cords on this electric washer?

In most of the owner’s manuals for electric pressure washers, they recommend not to use an extension power cord since it can compromise the effectiveness of the unit.

In practice, many people do use extension cords, but just be conscious of the fact that it can diminish the pressure washer’s performance slightly.

  • Am looking at a commercial grade Gerni electric pressure washer. There are currently 6 in your range: what is the main difference between the 3-wheel tripod style models and the two wheel models?

Hi - whilst all of the commercial models have brass head pumps and ceramic pistons, the 3 wheel models have larger pumps and can therefore operate for longer periods. The 3 wheel models are designed to operate for around 4 to 5 hours at a time, every day. The 2 wheel models are still commercial grade, but intended more for a few hours use at a time. Thanks

  • What's the best way to gauge the full power of a pressure washer? Is it just the PSI pressure rating?

Hi James, great question. The cleaning power of a pressure washer is a combination of its pressure (PSI rating) and water flow rate (litres per minute).

Often people only consider the PSI number when looking at pressure washer models, but in fact testing shows that a greater water flow rate has a slightly greater influence on overall cleaning effectiveness:

    - Increasing the PSI rating of a pressure washer unit by 10% will increase cleaning effectiveness by 7%

    - Increasing the Water Flow Rate of a pressure washer unit by 10% will increase cleaning effectiveness by 12%

So when comparing pressure models, be sure to consider each model's PSI rating and its Water Flow Rate capacity.

Note there are obviously many other factors on a unit to unit basis which also influences a pressure washer's cleaning capabilty such as; water temperature capacity, type and make of pump, piston types, nozzle & gun types etc.

  • Does the Gerni MC4M model have variable pressure control on the trigger gun or the machine itself please?

    Hi Phillip,

This model has a variable pressure nozzle attached to the lance.

This lance is referred to as the Flexopower lance.

  • I have moss buildup on my concrete courtyard which is quite thick. I need a pressure washer that will clean down to the concrete in a fairly short period of time. I borrowed an electric 2000psi washer but did not quite cut it. Any advice?

Hi Robert, if the moss build up is quite significant, then I would suggest a pressure washer of around 2400 to 3000psi - this would be appropriate for most tough concrete cleaning tasks and should get the job done quickly.

You can also look at additional accessory nozzles such as turbo heads / turbohammer nozzles / powerspeed nozzles to help make the moss removal task easier and quicker. Some units come with this type of nozzle included, for others it is an additional accessory you'll need to add.  This kind of nozzle spins a zero degree spray in a wider circle at 3000 rotations per minute. The spinning water jet hits the surface area from multiple angles, quickly breaking down the substance you want removed (in your case: moss). As a result, turbo nozzles can cut cleaning time significantly.

    Cheers, Steve

  • What accessory or accessories do you recommend to go with a pressure washer for cleaning outdoor concrete areas?

Hi, for smaller domestic concrete requirements such as standard sized driveways or small patios, you can look at a patio cleaner/surface cleaner accessory - typically a circular head of around 12 inches that minimise splashback, have strong brushes which clean patios, paths, driveways etc. at quick rotation to significantly speed up the cleaning of your home outside areas.

For larger concrete areas or for commercial requirements, look for a nozzle know as a turbo nozzle / turbohammer / powerspeed nozzle - These nozzles will spin a zero degree spray in a wider circle at 3000 rotations per minute. The spinning water jet hits the surface area from multiple angles, quickly breaking down caked-on dirt and grime. As a result, turbo nozzles can cut cleaning time drastically. Excellent for larger concrete areas and for particularly tough to clean surfaces. You can also consider a commercial grade patio/surface cleaner which are made of stainless steel and are available with some commercial grade washers.

In both the domestic and commercial cases, some pressure washer models come with the abovementioned accessory, and some models require the accessory to be added seperately.

  • Can you explain the Gerni naming to me, for example the "Gerni MC 4M 160/620" - what does this coding mean about the product?

Hi, great question - the structure of the Gerni naming is designed to give an easy and transparent overview of the key technical details and features of the product. Looking at your example of the MC 4M 160/620:

= this stands for Mobile (as opposed to Stationary (S) pressure washer units).

= Cold Water (as opposed to H for Hot Water units).

= type of pump profile ranging from 2 through to 8.

M = Mid Range class of 1450rpm motor. The others are Compact (C) class of 2800rpm motor and Premium (P) class of 1450rpm motor.

160/620 = 160 pump pressure (in bar), and 620 water flow rate (Litres per hour).

There can also be additional letters and number codes for other models denoting certain parts of equipment or features such as X (hose reel), or PA (pressure activated) and FA (flow activated).

Each model has full information in the Specifications tab and within the downloadable Product Manual.
