The seven-step charging algorithm gets the best out of your battery. The charger gives the battery the power it needs, maintains its health, ensures better performance... and a longer life.

Recovery of deeply-discharged 'dead' batteries:

Unlike other brands, the Blue Smart IP22 Charger will attempt to recharge a deeply-discharged battery by force-feeding it with a low current. Normal charging will then be resumed as soon as there is sufficient voltage across the battery terminals.

Check the status of your battery remotely:

The Blue Smart IP22 is equipped with built-in Bluetooth, so the status of the charger and the battery can be checked on a smartphone, tablet or laptop. All settings of the charger can be configured with the VictronConnect app.

Bluetooth Smart:

The Blue Smart IP22 Charger is the wireless solution to monitor voltage and current, to change settings and to update the charger when new features become available.

High efficiency:

With up to 94% efficiency, these chargers generate up to four times less heat when compared to the industry standard. And once the battery is fully charged, power consumption reduces to 0,5 Watt, some five to ten times better than the industry standard.

Adaptive 6-stage charge algorithm: test - bulk – absorption - recondition – float – storage:

The Blue Smart Charger features a microprocessor controlled ‘adaptive’ battery management. The adaptive feature will automatically optimize the charging process relative to the way the battery is being used.

Storage Mode: less maintenance and aging when the battery is not in use:

The storage mode kicks in whenever the battery has not been subjected to discharge during 24 hours. In the storage mode float voltage is reduced to 2,2V/cell (13,2V for a 12V battery) to minimize gassing and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week the voltage is raised back to the absorption level to ‘equalize’ the battery. This feature prevents stratification of the electrolyte and sulfation, a major cause of early battery failure.

Also charges Li-ion (LiFePO₄) batteries:

LiFePO₄ batteries are charged with a simple bulk – absorption – float algorithm.

NIGHT and LOW setting:

When in NIGHT or LOW mode, the output current is reduced to max. 50% of the nominal output and the charger will be totally noiseless. The NIGHT mode automatically ends after 8 hours. The LOW mode can be ended manually.

Protected against overheating:

Output current will reduce as temperature increases up to 50°C, but the Blue Smart Charger will not fail.

Eleven LEDs for status indication:

Charge algorithm: TEST / BULK / ABSORPTION / RECONDITION / FLOAT / STORAGE / READY.
MODE button to set: NORMAL (14,4V) / HIGH (14,7V) / RECONDITION / LI-ION.

The charger works well charging both my lithium and lead acid batteries quickly- Bluetooth and adjustable programming is a nice feature. Would have preferred it to come with leads but understand it is primarily for fixed installation.

Awesome charger, I purchased 2. O ne replacing my original Caravan charger as I upgraded to lithium batteries and this charger was exactly what I wanted. Ease of use as well as Bluetooth to check on the batteries whilst charger is on. The second one replacing a smaller charger used for charging other batteries. Very quick on the charge and very easy to swap over for LiFePO4 battery when required.

What size battery charger do I need for my lead acid battery I have in my camper?

A good battery charger rule of thumb for charging a lead acid battery, is using a charger with output current (amps) of 10-20% of the battery total stored capacity (Ah).

So, for example if the battery is 12V 100Ah, the charger need to be minimum of 10A and maximum of 20A. Often splitting the difference at 15% (so a 12V ~15A charger) is a good option. Happy charging!

Can I use this with a gas generator to recharge my batteries? Also, where does it get the power from for Bluetooth to work? Sorry, if these are dumb questions. I am a complete noob with this kind of stuff.

Hi There, yes you can use this charger from a generator. The unit would get power from the AC source that it is connected to, whether that be the generator of a power outlet
Why is it essential that the charger is mounted in an upright position? The cardboard where my wiring comes to may not permit this is it going to cause a fire hazard or damage to the charger?

Hi There, It is ok to mount an IP22 charger on a wall horizontally, however the cooling works better when mounted on a vertical surface.

With this charger in a permanent install into a caravan can I wire it direct to the 15amp waterproof inlet on the outside of the van so when connected to mains power in a caravan park it automatically starts up and charges the lithium batterie/s?

Generally the charger would be plugged in to a mains socket in the vehicle that receives power when the caravan is connected to shore power.

An electrician would be able to advise the best way to do this.

You are correct. This charger can be set to either 15A or 30A and is managed via the Victron Connect bluetooth app.
I want to charge 1 x120 ah lithium firstly then upgrade 2 X batteries in parallel, is this the correct charger with one outlet?Also if it is, do I have to set it at 15amps for one battery or can it just stay on 30 amps?

You can certainly leave the charger at 30A.

When it comes to lithium batteries you want your charger to be no more than 30% the capacity of the battery being charged, and 30% of 120 is 36.

To charge a bank of two batteries you would only require the single output as you are effectively charging one large battery.
What connector do I need to use to connect victron IP22 to my battery? I thought they would be included. Newbie

HI There,

You can use 12V cabling with alligator clips, or ring terminals.

Alligator clips allow for a temporary install, where the ring terminals are a more permanent solution.

It really depends on your installation and batteries as to the way you connect the charger.
