• Hi there, I have noticed the specifications and design of the Houghton air conditioner range are similar to the Aircommand range, are these essentially the same air conditioners?

  The HB3400 are not inverter air conditioners.

  They will produce some noise, but they should not be shaking your whole van.

  We recommend contacting the Australian warrantor of these air conditioners Karma Air on 0448 691 433.

• How can I best optimise the performance of my roof-top air conditioner?

  Hi there,

  Here are some tips to best optimise the performance of your roof top air conditioner:

  • Clean the filters of the air distribution box regularly.
  • If your caravan has been sitting in direct sunlight for a long period of time, use the 'ventilation' mode with the windows open for a while before switching to the 'cooling' mode.
  • Avoid opening doors and windows as much as possible when the air conditioner is running.
  • Regularly remove leaves and dirt from the ventilation grilles of the roof top air conditioner. Make sure you do not damage the grilles in the process.

  Sorry but we do not sell any air conditioners that run on 120VAC sorry.

  We would recommend the Houghton Belair HB3500 for a caravan of that size.

  Whilst we have not tested it, we would expect a minimum 2600W inverter to run this air conditioner.

  You would need a minimum 2400w inverter generator or the Yamaha EF2200.

  The Dometic have a 3 year warranty, whereas the Houghton only have 2. The Dometic also have the option of an inverter air conditioner, which is a newer design.
