Sim card options

The VanConnect is endorsed by Telstra and is supplied with a Telstra Pre-Paid SIM card. The unit however is not locked to a specific provider and is optimised for all Australian networks, Telstra, Optus, Vodafone or other. The VanConnect works on Pre-Paid Plans, Contracts and even Data Share SIM cards. As a result, you can choose which Australian Telecom Provider you would like to use and if you want a pre-paid data plan or a monthly data plan. Telstra offers a solution where you can purchase an additional SIM card and have this SIM card linked to your existing account. called a Data Bundle Plan. When purchasing a Data Bundle SIM, you will be able to access your combined monthly data allowance from your phone, as well as the VanConnect, as they will all be linked to the same account. The data only SIM bundle costs $15 per month and adds another 10GB of data to your monthly allocation. For more information, please have a look at the Telstra website

Installation:

The VanConnect unit can be installed on the back wall of an overhead cupboard, or on a shelf near a 12V power point. Power to the unit is supplied via a 12 volt cigarette plug.
The external antenna is mounted on the roof of the caravan and the five leads (3 metres long) are connected to the VanConnect.

How is the VanConnect different to hot spotting from my phone, or using a router from the competition?

The VanConnect provides a superior connection to your data providers network. The VanConnect also provides you with a far better coverage for your RV WiFi network. The VanConnect is wired in to the 12V supply of the van, so you don't have to worry about a flat phone battery.
Do I have to sign up to a mobile phone contract?

No, not if you don’t want to. VanConnect comes with a Telstra pre paid starter kit. You can use this starter kit or you can purchase a kit from your choice of data provider. With a pre paid kit you only pay for the data you use. You can also choose to get a contract for your VanConnect, some providers allow you to link the VanConnect to your existing phone contract.
Does it work everywhere?

VanConnect works with all major Australian data providers including Telstra, Vodafone and Optus. The superior external antenna allows you to connect to the providers network, where the competition does not. VanConnect operates on the full spectrum of 4G and 5G bands used by all major Australian data providers. Please refer to the VanConnect specifications for more detail.
