Finch underbunk air conditioner Review by
We are so far very happy - we have only just installed it - which my son did as he is a qualified auto electrician - it was very easy to install - we turned it on and it worked a treat - so are looking forward to our next trip - I have read the air con is expensive but it was cheaper then the competitor brand and seems about the same price as the usual caravan air conditioners

Works really well Review by
We received the aircoditioner really quickly and no problem at all. We put it in the caravan without any problems. We had read different reviews saying that it would not heat up but we found it heated the caravan all night and was not noisy at all.

Product Q&A

Ask Us a Question
  • It doesn't provide any specs on the current draw of this unit, only the heating / cooling watts output. What is the current draw for each please? Kind regards,Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

We have the following current draw noted in our specs for the HB9000:

    Current Draw (Cooling/Heating) 4.2 A / 5.3 A
  • Can the intake and outlet be run through the side of the caravan instead of the floor? I have an offroad van and would not want to damage the AC unit when going through river crossings.

    Hi Joshua,

Based on the design of the air conditioner, they do require ventilation through the floor of the van they are being installed in.

  • Hi I noted this unit uses 2.2kw cooling , wanting to know if my 2000w inverter would be able to run this unit off my litium batteries.Regards Nick y

Hi There, We would recommend a slightly larger output such as 2500watts. It would also depend on the discharge current of your batteries. Feel free to contact us on 1300 400 122

  • Could this be fitted in my yacht?? If not what would be the reasoning??

    Hi There,

One of the major reasons this would not be suitable for a yacht is due to the requirement for an underfloor cut out.

This cut out is completed to allow the intake of cool air, and to expel hot air produced by the air conditioner.

  • Hi I have an underbunk air conditioner where is the filter how do you clean it Thank you

    Hi There,

Please refer to page 11 of the following manual: https://www.mygenerator.com.au/assets/images/resource/pdf/HB9000_manual.pdf

  • What is the main difference between the model and the truma?

    Hi There,

The Truma has a heat pump, vs the Finch model being a reverse cycle unit, the Truma model is also lighter weight and made from higher quality materials.

The Truma model also has a longer warranty, and larger service netowrk

  • How many BTU s ?Does the unit run

    Hi There,

These air condtioners have the following cooling and heating specs:

    Cooling: 2.2kW - 7500 BTU

    Heating: 1.8kW - 6141 BTU

  • Hi can this unit be installed on a shelf . Drawing the air intake from the shelf below.

    Hi There,

These units are required to be installed on the floor of the vehicle, with intake, and venting to be outside the vehicle.

  • Would this be suited to a jayco eagle and where would you recommend the air out vents be located

    Hi There,

This air conditioner could be installed in your Jayco Eagle.

As for vent locations we are unable to provide a recommendation sorry.

  • Goodmorning, can you help with a recommended installer pls? We are in Ballarat.Vic but would be prepared to travel thanks

    Hi There,

We do not have a list of preferred installers around the country.

We would recommend looking for a local caravn repair centre as generally they have the facilities to install air conditioners.

  • Does this unit come fitted with an Australian 240v power plug?

    Hi There,

Yes the HB9000 will come with an Australian style power plug.

  • Hi, I have the HB9000 installed in my off road caravan. The inflow vent wasn’t sealed for dust and hot air vent didn’t have a rubber seal either as a result the HB9000 is filled with dust after driving on gravel roads in Queensland.Do both vents need

    Hi There

For information regarding installation, please consult the product manual, or a caravan installer.

    https://www.mygenerator.com.au/assets/images/resource/pdf/HB9000_manual.pdf

    Kind Regards

  • Can this unit be fitted above the ceiling on a boat, that means it draws the air in from just below the ceiling and not close to the floor.?The unit will still be indoor in this locationCheers Brian

    Hi There

We would not be able to recommend installing this air conditioner in a boat sorry.
