How A Battery Isolator Works
Most vehicles only include one starter battery. But you might want to add a second battery for work lights, a power winch, camping gear, or simply because you want a backup on long trips.
A battery isolator allows DC power to flow through the isolator, while making electricity flow in one direction. So, when one battery is drained, it won’t pull current from the other battery and leave you with two drained batteries.
