Customer Reviews
Hope you don't need parts and service Review by Grant WalterfangWe have had two of these units installed in late winter 2020. By early November, both control cards failed and the units pumped out ambient air i.e. not working. The local rep has failed to properly respond to our installers requests for help, refusing to talk to mere tradesmen. The manager of the local distributor has endured two weeks until finally, the rep has told them there are none of these parts in Australia and there is no ETA. We have actually been advised to look for an alternative brand while we wait, which is absolutely appalling, and both above people described the rep as the surest, most self important representative of a company they have ever met. Installers here have caught on, and are not installing Gree because of their conscience due to this. Beware of glossy brochures and promises.(Posted on 26 November 2020)
Happy with air conditioner, service, delivery time Review by Alan GillWe reviewed the Dometic range and Gree range of air conditioners, before deciding on the Gree. We also spoke with fellow RV owners who already had Gree, Dometic Harrier and the new Dometic Ibis 4 air conditioners, before making up our mind. The Gree published "noise" levels, where none of the other manufacturers did. We chose the Gree 3.5kW as it appears to have the most kW for a ceiling mount, it was quite, it is manufactured by one of the largest a/c manufacturers in the world, it has a oscillating function - and it was as cheap or cheaper than other models we reviewed. We actually purchased a 3.5kW for the lounge of our 5th wheeler, and a 2.5kW for the bedroom; replacing the Truma units which were getting very noisy after 8 years of use. We have recently experienced a couple of 37+deg. hot days, and the Grees have keep us cool, without building up with condensation like the old Trumas used to do on humid days. We are happy to recommend the Gree to anybody who is thinking of buying a new a/con for RV.(Posted on 5 March 2020)

Does the Gree have Wifi Capabilities?
Good morning,
Yes the Gree does have Wifi capabilities, however you will need to purchase a wifi router to use this function. We recommend the NCE Travel Wifi Modem Kit (see the accessories list). All you will need is a sim card that has data on it and the air conditioner can be controlled via your smart phone.

can this unit replace a dometic a/c with a cut out of 400mm x 400mm. I note the cut out being 365mm x 365mmis there a kit or collar to make this possible or are we back to dometicThanksKevin
Hi Kevin,
Unfortunately there is no conversion kit to allow this air conditioner to fit a 400x400mm opening sorry.
Dometic would be the brand to look at to fit your existing opening.
-
Does the Gree 3.5 unit have inverter technology?
Hi There, no it is not an inverter. In our range the Dometic air conditioners have the inverter technology. Thanks
-
What generator do I need to run my Gree Air Conditioner?
Hi there,
A good quality 2400W inverter generator such as the Yamaha 2400w Inverter Generator or Cromtech 2400w Inverter Generator will start and run the Gree air conditioner.
However please note, if you have other appliances plugged in (such as a battery charger), then you will most likely struggle to start the A/C with a 2400W inverter generator.

Bought a caravan with the GREE GRH085DA air cond. would the Yamaha EF2200iS run my AC? The EF2200iS is the only one to fit in my A frame tool box. Want to be sure as I don't want to buy the wrong inverter.Cheers.Roger.
Hi There,
Based on the specs of the Gree air conditioner you have, the Yamaha EF2200iS should run it without an issue.
-
How can I best optimise the performance of my roof-top air conditioner?
Hi there,
Here are some tips to best optimise the performance of your roof top air conditioner:
- Clean the filters of the air distribution box regularly.
- If your caravan has been sitting in direct sunlight for a long period of time, use the 'ventilation' mode with the windows open for a while before switching to the 'cooling' mode.
- Avoid opening doors and windows as much as possible when the air conditioner is running.
- Regularly remove leaves and dirt from the ventilation grilles of the roof top air conditioner. Make sure you do not damage the grilles in the process.
Thanks for your question.

My air conditioner keeps turning off. I'm suspecting it is to do with the timer. I would like to turn off the timer how do I do that.
Hi There,
If a timer is activated on your remote control, please press the "Timer On" button for a second time to turn the timer off.

The Gree Air Conditioner has a low 1 watt standby function, does this mean it will start and run using only a 1kVA petrol generator?
Hi there,
Technically yes, the Gree Air Conditioner will start and run on a 1kVA generator, however this will only run the fan. It will not run the cold air.
The smallest generator we would recommend to start and run the Gree Air Conditioner is a 2400W inverter generator such as the Yamaha 2400w Inverter Generator or Cromtech 2400w Inverter Generator.
However, if you have other appliances plugged in such as a battery charger, then we would recommend purchasing a larger generator, as you will you will most likely struggle to start the A/C with a 2400W inverter generator.
-
Is this a soft start AC
Hi There,
The Gree Airconditioner is not a soft start. Currently only Dometic make soft start air conditioners for the caravan/rv market.
-
Will the Gree Air Conditioner run off-grid in temperatures above 42°C?
Hi there,
Yes your Gree Air Conditioner will run in temperatures above 42°C from a generator, however in extreme conditions such as this, it will take some time to cool your van down. You should take into consideration the ambient temperature of where you will be travelling before purchasing this air conditioner.
-
How many btu is the 2.5 gree?
Hi There
The BTU is not a specification that is provided to us.
I would suggest contacting Gree directly on 1800 4733 463 or via email at [email protected]
Kind Regards
