    Product Review

I purchased this solar panel, and even though I haven't used it much yet it seems to work well.
Quality seems to be good for price and what its going to be used for.

Didn't get here in time for the weekend but that was mainly my fault for ordering on the Tuesday

Ask a Question

  • Q:Can folding (portable) solar panels be permanently fixed to the top of a motorhome/caravan?
    A:

Hi there, fixing portable/foldable solar panels to a Recreational Vehicle is not really common practice... the regulator is placed behind the panels and you connect your Anderson connections into it. You will not be able to access the regulator if you fix the panels.

You could run wiring from the panels inside the vehicle, but there are fixed panels that you can purchase that are set up like this already...so it can be done, but its not typical, as you can buy fixed panels within our RV solar range which are designed for being fixed to a vehicle.

    Many thanks

  • Q:The Evakool 160 watt solar panel, the Waeco battery pack and a portable fridge (say 30 litres) look like they would work together. Does the solar panel plug directly into the battery power pack? Will the solar panel generate power on cloudy days?

Hi Ken, yes your solar panel will come with a Charge Controller is designed to provide fully regulated output for controlled charging from solar panels to Lead Acid, Sealed Lead Acid, AGM and Gel Batteries.
Its best to use the solar panel to charge a battery, as opposed to running the fridge directly from the solar panel as voltage will drop if clouds come overhead for instance. The battery means your refrigerator keeps running even if the voltage output of the solar panel drops severely due to cloud cover. Thank you

  • Q:What’s the difference between Mono & Polycrystalline solar cells?
    A:

There's actually not a whole lot of difference when it comes to Caravan, RV and Camping applications to be honest. They are different cell types and are more relevant for home grid tied roof top.

You will read that poly are better in low light conditions and mono are more efficient. But for roof top caravan's the difference is negligible.

The most important thing is to get a well-constructed roof top panel from a quality brand and get the right sizing for your application.
