1. Johanna Beach, Great Ocean Walk, Victoria

Enjoy everything the Australian coastline has to offer along the spectacular Great Ocean Road. Near the 12 Apostles, there are drive-in campsites and hikers' sites if you're stopping on the Great Ocean Walk. Johanna Beach is well worth a stop.

2. Southern Ocean Beach, Coorong National Park, SA

You might need a 4WD to get there, but we promise it's worth it. This isolated beach in Coorong National Park is 180km southeast of Adelaide and 140km long. Time it perfectly to watch migratory birds on the wetlands and marvel at the changing colour of the dunes with dawn and dusk.

3. Conto's Field campground, Leeuwin Naturaliste NP, WA

Whether you're guzzling wine in some of the country's top wineries or trekking the Cape to Cape Track, you can't afford to miss a few nights at this spectacular campsite located just 20km south of Margaret River. Along with the unforgettable views, enjoy a spot of fishing and who knows, you might catch a salmon or two for dinner.

4. Cave Beach, Booderee NP, NSW

Situated in the jointly Aboriginal-managed Booderee National Park, this campsite is a 3-hour drive south of Sydney and surrounded by picture perfect wilderness. 5. Yuraygir National Park, NSW

Fact: This park is the longest expanse of undeveloped coastline in NSW, stretching 60km along the northeast coast. So where do you camp? We say you can't go past the campsite near Angourie beach with its calm lagoons, hidden beaches, canoeing, surfing and walking trails.

6. Tooloom Falls, Tooloom National Park, NSW

Trying to get away from it all? Head to Tooloom Falls campground. Located deep within the Tooloom National Park, more than 600km north of Sydney, the site is surrounded by walking tracks, clear water streams and creeks for fishing.

7. Stoney Park, Telegraph Point, NSW

Simply a must-visit for lovers of water sports. Just north of Port Macquarie, Stoney Park provides jet skiing, water skiing and canoeing. If you want to stay on dry land, the labyrinth of cycling and bush walking tracks will have you in a spin.

8. The Grampians NP, Victoria

There are no words to describe The Grampians, but we'll try anyway...magnificent summits, breath-taking lookouts, refreshing waterfalls, treks through lush bushland and forests, rock climbing and much more.
